We remember the Great influence of Pastor Harlan Gott
What we remember:
Brother Travis Brice:
"I had the privilege to grow up under the preaching, teaching, and love of my pastor, Bro. Harlan Gott. As a young person, I always enjoyed the personal interest he had in all the young people's lives. He knew you personally, you were not just part of the youth group. He was always quick to encourage when doing the right thing, and just as quick to correct in a firm but loving manner when I did the wrong thing. As I entered adulthood, I really appreciated him always taking the time to meet with me and help me find God's direction through any difficult times I had encountered. Many people mistook his firmness for what is right as a lack of love for them or the lost sinner, but neither could be further from the truth. One instance that illustrates how selfless he really was, is when my grandmother passed away. The only time she had ever attended his church was when we had some special event, such as a wedding or graduation. She did not dislike him, she just wasn't a member and did not go to church at this time in her life. When she died, my family asked him if he would preach the funeral. He did preach the funeral which happened to be on the first day of his family vacation. It was 5 hours away from church in another state (Texas) and about 7 hours away from where he was headed with his family for a vacation in Arkansas. Thank you Bro. Gott for coming to witness to my dad, thereby opening the doors for us to be saved and serve God as a family. Will see you again in heaven."
Mrs. Stephanie Breaux:
"I trusted Jesus as my Lord and savior on February 11, 2001. I am grateful to Brother Gott for genuinely loving the Lord and us enough to come to tell us about salvation being in a man and not religion. It is only Jesus. All to him I owe.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
My dad once told me he felt like the Lord answered his prayer for truth in the 70's when God sent Brother Gott to New Iberia. Now 37 years later, I look back at all my friends and family that were able to hear the plan of salvation. I am so thankful for his dedication to the Lord. I can't wait to see him again in heaven.
Love you Brother Gott
Thank you for giving to the Lord
Stephanie Breaux"
Bro. Allen Hebert:
"I prayed while at work somewhere around 1975-1976. My prayer was for the truth and how to come to the knowledge of salvation. It wasn't long after that, Mrs Pete knocked on our door inviting Mark and Sheila to ride the church bus. My wife and I attended our very first baptist service to see where our kids would be attending. It was May 15, 1977. Brother Gott preached clean cut, sound doctrine. When the invitation had begun, my wife and I were the first two down the aisle. We accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. Brother Gott was a man of God. He was always there for us through the years."
